HAVAGEM HAVANESE

ABOUT US

WELCOME TO HAVAGEM HAVANESE.
Our journey with this wonderful breed began in 2017 when our first Havanese, Rory, joined our family. We quickly fell in love with the breed's affectionate, intelligent, and joyful nature. Before long, we knew we wanted to help preserve and promote the Havanese through responsible, ethical breeding. In 2019, Candy, our first breeding female, became part of our family, marking the beginning of our breeding programme. We are incredibly grateful to Versailles Havanese for their guidance and support in helping us establish and develop Havagem Havanese.
Health, temperament and correct breed type are at the heart of everything we do. Early in our journey, we recognised that many Havanese were being bred without comprehensive health testing. We became passionate advocates for raising health standards within the breed, a commitment that ultimately led to Rebecca founding the Havanese Breed Society UK, a Royal Kennel Club-recognised breed society dedicated to promoting responsible breeding, education and the long-term welfare of the Havanese.
Our dogs are, first and foremost, beloved family members. Havanese are true companion dogs—often affectionately known as "Velcro dogs" because they love to be close to their people—and we believe they should be raised as such. Our dogs are never kennelled. We intentionally keep only a small number so that every dog can enjoy life as a cherished member of our household, sharing everyday family life with Rebecca, Richard and our young adult son.
As a neurodiverse family, we have personally experienced the incredible therapeutic qualities of the Havanese. Their affectionate, intuitive, and gentle nature has brought us immense joy, companionship and comfort, and we hope to share these wonderful qualities with every family who welcomes a Havagem puppy into their home.
While we love Havanese of every colour, we do have a particular soft spot for chocolate Havanese. We are also committed to maintaining genetic diversity within the breed and carefully plan our breeding programme to achieve low inbreeding coefficients. To support this, we have imported dogs from overseas to broaden our bloodlines and contribute to the long-term health and future of the breed.
Our aim is simple: to breed healthy, well-socialised, confident Havanese with outstanding temperaments that will become treasured members of their families for many years to come
